"My brother
disappeared trying to cross the border in 1986..."
My name is Adrian Terme. I was born in Romania. I had a brother who
disappeared while trying to leave the country. He made several
attempts, swimming across the Danube to pass the border from Romania
in 1985, during the communist regime. I supposed he arrived in the
USA, according to an uncertain (and unfortunately only one) piece of
information which I got in 1986. Incertitude about his life spreads
as we have no signs about him from anywhere.
Can somebody who maybe lived (or heard) a similar experience give
us a possible trace to search him? My brother's name is
Ovidiu Terme, born on May 14,
1964.
Anybody can answer to
adyterme@yahoo.com.

FEATURED BOOK:
Disappearance of the Outside: A Manifesto for
Escape
by Andrei Codrescu
Taking into account his own exile from Stalinist Romania,
as well as the plights of such greats as Garcia Marquez, Breton, Dada,
Kundera, and Milosz, Codrescu issues a call for those living in a free
society to reach beyond a benign reality founded in technology and
commercialism by tapping into their imaginations and striving for a better,
evolutionary existence.

FEATURED INTERVIEW:
Sonia Choquette.
(first
generation born in the USA)
"The first thing to say about the experience of an immigrant is that
people are like a tree whose roots have been cut off. Fortunately
the human spirit is regenerative but only if you acknowledge that
you have suffered a major psychic wound, even if you move under the
best of conditions. So you can build new roots."
