Jessica Zimmer is from wine country in Northern California. She grew up with friends who were recent immigrants from around the world, including Cambodia, China, Eritrea, Mexico and Vietnam. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Anthropology from Florida State University, her Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Florida, and her J.D. from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. Her main interest is archaeology and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Jessica draws all the time, even in law school classes. She works with children as a volunteer and in a legal internship, which keeps her happy. Her main influence is Charles Schultz, who drew Peanuts. He lived in Santa Rosa, where Jessica used to live. The Redwood Empire Ice Arena, “Snoopy’s Home Ice,” which has Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy, and of course Charlie Brown on the wall, is just down the street from Jessica’s old house.
