Jessica Zimmer is from wine
country in Northern California. She grew up with friends who were recent
immigrants from around the world, including Cambodia, China, Eritrea, Mexico
and Vietnam. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature from the
University of California, Santa Barbara in 1999. She is currently working on
her Master’s degree in Anthropology from Florida State University, her Ph.D.
in Anthropology from the University of Florida, and her J.D. from the Levin
College of Law at the University of Florida. Her main interest is
archaeology and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Jessica draws all the time, even in
law school classes. She works with children as a volunteer and in a legal
internship, which keeps her happy. Her main influence is Charles Schultz,
who drew Peanuts. He lived in Santa Rosa, where Jessica used to live. The
Redwood Empire Ice Arena, “Snoopy’s Home Ice,” which has Snoopy, Woodstock,
Linus, Lucy, and of course Charlie Brown on the wall, is just down the
street from Jessica’s old house.
